The National Office for Child Safety welcomes the appointment of Anne Hollonds to the role of National Children’s Commissioner
Ms Anne Hollonds has been appointed to the role of National Children’s Commissioner. Ms Hollonds, who currently serves as Director of the Australian Institute of Family Studies, brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise on child wellbeing, with over 20 years in the sector.
The role of the National Children’s Commissioner sits within the Australian Human Rights Commission to promote the rights and wellbeing of Australian children, and to ensure their voices are heard.
The Australian Government established the role under the first three-year Action Plan of the National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children 2009-2020.
The inaugural National Children’s Commissioner, Ms Megan Mitchell, worked with the National Office for Child Safety to develop the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and supporting resources—a key initiative recommended by the Royal Commission into Institutional Response to Child Sexual Abuse.
The National Office for Child Safety looks forward to working with Ms Anne Hollonds as the new National Children’s Commissioner to continue to empower children and young people across Australia and improve their safety and wellbeing.
