New resources available for organisations working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
New Keeping Our Kids Safe resources are available to support organisations working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and communities [Link] implement the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations (National Principles) in a culturally safe and relevant way.
The resources include:
- an animated video, Keeping Our Kids Safe: Understanding Cultural Safety in Child Safe Organisations, that gives viewers an introduction to the National Principles through a cultural lens
- a guide, Keeping Our Kids Safe: Cultural Safety and the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, that builds on the video by giving practical guidance to organisations on how to implement the National Principles in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities.
These resources are useful for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations as well as non-Indigenous organisations working with First Nations communities.
Development of these resources was led by SNAICC – National Voice for our Children with support from the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency. Over 100 individuals from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and non-Indigenous organisations working with First Nations communities participated in shaping the resources.
