The Australian Government is committed to being accountable and transparent in the work led by the National Office for Child Safety and in partnership with state and territory governments to prevent and respond to child sexual abuse. The National Strategy’s annual reports are an important way in which we demonstrate this commitment.

National Strategy First Annual Report
The National Strategy’s First Annual Report was released on 15 December 2023.
The First Annual Report provides an update on the implementation of the 62 activities under the National Strategy’s First National Action Plan and First Commonwealth Action Plan over a 12-month period. It includes an update on the implementation of the 122 Royal Commission recommendations that are either partially or wholly directed at the Australian Government.
Previously, all national work to develop and implement the National Strategy was publicly reported in the Australian Government’s annual progress reports on the implementation of recommendations from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. As recommended by the Royal Commission, the Australian Government released 5 consecutive annual progress reports over 2018-2022.
National Strategy First Annual Report: A Guide for Children and Young People
We released the National Strategy First Annual Report: A Guide for Children and Young People on 09 May 2024.
This guide helps children and young people to understand and engage with the implementation of the National Strategy over December 2022 to December 2023. It updates children and young people on tangible work being done and key new resources available to help them understand child safety and child sexual abuse and to recognise the signs of child sexual abuse.
